Day 1 Wednesday June 21st

The Powers of Point to Point Patterns I
Instructor: Sharon Perry
Class 1: 9:30a.m.-11:30a.m.
Cost: $35
(plus handout fee $3.00 and one time thumbdrive purchase ($10))
This technique class is suitable for either Innova (AutoPilot’s Autofit feature) or Gammill (p2p) owners. Use p2p (Point to Point) patterns to quickly and accurately set up customized quilting. This class will cover what makes a p2p pattern and other details on how to properly use them. You’ll learn that nearly every quilt can be enhanced using these types of patterns.
Tantalizing Triangles – will cover p2p triangles, reconfiguring patterns, auditioning them, and identifying features that make some better than others. Learn when to use freeze aspect and when not to use it. You’ll also learn about different types of p2p triangles (right angled, half square triangles, p2p bottom to top, equilateral triangles, hexagons, etc…).
Sharon will also show how to use these versatile patterns along paths (Jewel Box, etc.), in squares, alternate squares, square in squares, in backgrounds of stars (Le Moyne, Ohio, Sawtooth, 4 Point, and others). Also learn how to fill stars using p2p, use them for edge to edge and other specialty blocks like 9 patch, 16 patch grids and Puss in the Corner, amongst others!
Borders and Corners – You’ll be amazed at how useful these patterns are for setting up borders and corners.

The Powers of Point to Point Patterns II
Instructor: Sharon Perry
Class 2: 1p.m.-3p.m.
Cost: $35
(plus handout fee $3.00 and one time thumbdrive purchase ($10))
Although Innova owners can learn a lot of great techniques, editing demonstrations will feature Creative Studio’s editing functions. Innova owners are welcomed to stay around after class for Mach 3 software specific demos of the same features demonstrated by Kelly and Susan. Learning the techniques will help you no matter which machine you use.

Building on the morning class, Sharon will cover how to use p2p patterns for sashings. You can quilt a full width of a quilt in one pass, with only one start and stop for the entire width. Sharon will teach you how to evaluate situations where a p2p sash might not be suitable. A wide variety of quilts can be done with this powerful tool, Irish Chains, Grandmother’s Flower Gardens, Jacob’s Ladders…
Sharon will review using alternating patterns (concatenating) for even more variety. You’ll push all the boundaries!
Many quilts have hard-to-do areas, which are normally time consuming, if not impossible. This special function can be put to work making accurate placement a snap – just don’t tell your customers how easy it was!
Learn about “builders”: These are designs which usually are regular blocks, but with some reformatting they become “builders” which use the p2p or Autofit function to place the design and sew in a continuous fashion from block to block. The placement is super fast and accurate.

Point to Point Set Up: learn to reformat a block pattern to this type of pattern for speedy and accurate placement. Sharon has specialized in this, making quilts like Sew Kind of Wonderful’s designs spectacular, yet simple to set up.
